ClickFunnels VS WordPress From Someone Who Uses BOTH DAILY
February 22, 2024
What is a Landing Page? From Someone Who Creates Them Daily
February 28, 2024I’ve personally been using WordPress for 13+ years and Clickfunnels for 6+ years. I still have a current Clickfunnels account, I’ve attended their FHL event and I build a WordPress website at least twice a month. I do have strong opinions on both, and if there’s anyone that could create ClickFunnels VS LeadPages in deep detail I believe it would be me.
The choice between ClickFunnels and Leadpages can be pivotal. Of course you can use both like I do, but if you’re looking to spend the time money you probably want to choose just one. Both platforms offer unique features and cater to different business needs. This article delves deep into comparing ClickFunnels and LeadPages, helping you make an informed decision.
I also talk about combining LeadPages with WordPress, which I think if you are to use LeadPages you should strongly consider as the benefits are substantial.

LeadPages: An Overview
Leadpages is a versatile online platform designed to help businesses create high-converting landing pages, websites, pop-ups, and other marketing materials with ease and efficiency. It offers a user-friendly drag-and-drop interface that doesn’t require coding skills, making it accessible to marketers and entrepreneurs of all levels. Key features of LeadPages include:
- Landing Page Builder
- Lead Capture Tools
- Integration Capabilities
- A/B Testing
- Mobile Responsiveness
- Lead Magnets and Content Upgrades
- Conversion Optimization Tools
Ease of Use
Both ClickFunnels and LeadPages prioritize ease of use, but they cater to slightly different needs and skill sets. ClickFunnels is more funnel-centric, while LeadPages focuses on landing page creation and design. If you are not familiar with landing pages, I go into great detail about landing pages here!

Above is a screenshot of ClickFunnel’s editor. If you’re planning to base your landing page off of replacing the content to match your message – this editor is pretty simple. But, if someone sends you a mockup of the landing page your business needs you mind as well learn WordPress.
There’s minor complexities that slow down the entire build process, such as changing the favicon or learning rows and columns, or how to make the forms do what you want them to do.

Above is a screenshot of LeadpPages landing page editor. Personally this editor is easier to use, as you can modify styles in bulk to match a brand package instead of changing every header separately for example.
ClickFunnels Ease of Use
- User Interface: ClickFunnels offers a relatively intuitive interface. It is designed with the non-technical user in mind, making it easier for entrepreneurs and small business owners to create sales funnels without needing extensive technical knowledge.
- Funnel Building Process: The platform is known for its straightforward funnel-building process. Users can choose from a variety of pre-designed funnel templates (e.g., sales funnels, webinar funnels, membership sites) which they can customize to suit their needs.
- Customization and Flexibility: While ClickFunnels offers good customization options, it might be slightly less flexible compared to some advanced platforms. However, this is often a trade-off for ease of use.
- Integration and Add-ons: It integrates well with other tools and services, which simplifies the process of setting up a comprehensive marketing system.
- Support and Resources: ClickFunnels provides a range of support options, including a robust knowledge base, community support through forums, and customer service.
LeadPages Ease of Use
- User Interface: LeadPages is known for its clean and straightforward interface. It is highly user-friendly, particularly for building landing pages.
- Template Variety and Quality: One of the key strengths of LeadPages is its extensive library of templates. These templates are professionally designed and cater to a wide range of industries and use cases.
- Drag-and-Drop Builder: LeadPages offers a drag-and-drop builder, making it easy for users to create and customize landing pages without any coding skills.
- Flexibility in Design: While LeadPages provides a high level of design flexibility, this might require a slight learning curve for complete beginners to get the most out of all the available features.
- Integration Capabilities: LeadPages integrates with a variety of other tools and services, allowing for efficient workflow setups.
- Educational Resources and Support: LeadPages also offers substantial educational resources to help users get started and optimize their pages, alongside customer support.
Pre-Built Selections
While ClickFunnels offers a range of pre-built funnel templates, LeadPages excels in customization due to its extensive amount of pre-built selections.

ClickFunnels offers very basic Optin, Sales, Webinar, Membership, and clickpop templates. You can also visit the store and purchase templates for an exuberant amount of money.
Personally I start from scratch on ClickFunnels instead of using a template because I know I’m just going to have to gut the entire template. ClickFunnels has been around for over 6 years, they should have invested more time into templates.

LeadPages has a plethora of landing pages with myriad categories. Above is a screenshot of the “Offer, Discount & Coupon” templates. These templates are easy to use, fast to download, and like mentioned above – making mass changes to things like all H1 tags increases efficiencies when mocking a brand package.
E-commerce and Sales Funnel Integration
ClickFunnels is inherently designed for creating sales funnels, making it a go-to for businesses focused on conversion optimization. LeadPages, with plugins like WooCommerce if you were to integrate with WordPress, is also capable of handling e-commerce but requires more setup.
Though LeadPages does require more setup – WooCommerce has more capabilities because you can utilize user/business created plugins, or even create your own if you or your team understand basic code.
SEO Capabilities
SEO is crucial for online visibility. LeadPages out of the box has basic SEO features, but combining WordPress awith your build has potential to super-charge your SEO. ClickFunnels also includes basic SEO features but is less extensive compared to the Leadpages and WordPress combo.
Not to mention, in the world of SEO you need more links and supporting data that back your website to become the *subject matter expert*. This is incredibly difficult to accomplish using just a landing page builder like ClickFunnels or LeadPages alone. In my strong opinion if you are trying to rank for keywords in a serious way – you need to use a CMS like WordPress. I personally know nobody who uses ClickFunnels or LeadPages strictly for SEO.

Pricing Comparison
Discussing the pricing models of ClickFunnels and LeadPages is essential for budget-conscious businesses. ClickFunnels and LeadPages have a subscription-based model.
Both of these should require purchasing a domain name, though you can get away with using them without a domain name it’s not recommended. A domain name can range anywhere from $9-20/yr.
ClickFunnels does everything out of the box (landing page creation) for $147/m.
If you are building a website that needs to be fast, responsive, SEO friendly, and secure with daily backups I suggest you use WPEngine. I have a code here that allows you to get 3 months free for only $20/m here – WPE4FREE – 4 Months Free on Annual Plans. I personally use WPEngine for all of my medium-large builds.

Both LeadPages and ClickFunnels do a great job splintering their product. The list above for both are the cheapest tier available.
Another point I’d like to make about the ClickFunnels pricing/value is that it states “Analytics” as a feature.

Here’s what ClickFunnels analytics looks like above.

LeadPages alone has an easier to read and use analytics tool. LeadPages looks and feels better in almost every detail mentioned in the pricing model.

If you were to combine LeadPages with WordPress (highly recommended), with a simple free plugin install of Google’s Site Kit on WordPress we have the most advanced analytics in an easy-to-read format. This screenshot doesn’t do Site Kit any justice, you can dive deep into every metric you could imagine with this. If that’s not enough, since your website is connected to Google Analytics from using this plugin, you can dive even deeper on analytics.google.com for even more analytical information.
Scalability and Flexibility
Scalability is where LeadPages shines in LeadPages VS ClickFunnels, allowing businesses to expand their website’s functionality. ClickFunnels, while scalable, has limitations compared to the ability of LeadPages integrations with WordPress. If you’re just worried about running quick ads to a fast landing page – ClickFunnels is for you. If you want something that will act as an entire website with multiple options for your customers to browse and real web-app capabilities – use LeadPages on WordPress.
Security Features
Security is paramount for online platforms. WordPress, being open-source, requires regular updates and security plugins, whereas ClickFunnels and LeadPages alone manages security at its end.
If you’re planning on using LeadPages on top of WordPress, there’s fault in using the largest CMS WordPress – people try to attack it frequently. Whenever there’s updates to plugins, themes or the core the developers publish the faults, and if you or your host doesn’t update it – you’re prone to an attack. Which is another reason why I use WPEngine for my premium builds. They handle the updates for me.
I also use WordFence for my WordPress builds. This is like the malware protector on your computer but for your websites. Trust me – if there’s a bug, they’re on it. The combination of WPEngine, WordFence and of course a keen eye should keep your WordPress build safe and sound.
Another solid feature of WPEngine is daily backups. If there’s ever a serious attack you can always count on a safe backup point. Not only are the backups great for attacks but as you can see in the screenshot below one of the descriptions are “Before WP Upgrade…”. Before WPEngine automatically updates your WordPress core it creates a backup point. So, not only does WPEngine update your sites for you if you allow it, they also automatically create a backup if anything were to happen.

Third-Party Integrations
Both platforms support various third-party integrations, enhancing their functionality. ClickFunnels integrates with numerous marketing tools, while LeadPages combined with WordPress’s plugin repository extends its capabilities.

Out of the box there’s currently over 59k FREE plugins listed on the WordPress Plugin database. That doesn’t even count all of the plugins that aren’t listed on sites like Envato Market that holds premium plugins. Like mentioned before, if you yourself or your team has coding knowledge the possibilities are even more endless.
Community and Support
The community and support systems of both platforms are robust. LeadPages has a massive community and extensive documentation. ClickFunnels offers dedicated support and an active user community.
I am still a member of the ClickFunnels community, this community is massive! Mostly spam, but massive at best!
